How our calculator works

Our personal injury claims calculator helps you to work out how much money you may expect to receive when you make a compensation claim. Simply select the type of injury, where it is on your body and the severity of it. You will then receive an estimate of the sum you might be able to receive as a result of your injuries, using the Judicial College guidelines.

Please be aware that our accident compensation calculator doesn’t include other special damages that you may also be entitled to claim, such as loss of earnings and the cost of care or treatment. The calculator also can’t provide you with an exact figure because this will depend on a number of factors, including the severity and recovery time of your injuries. It also doesn’t account for any fees that your legal representative might deduct from your compensation sum if your claim is successful.

What are the Judicial College guidelines?

The Judicial College is the body responsible for training judicial office holders based in England and Wales. It publishes ‘Guidelines for the Assessment of General Damages in Personal Injury Cases’ as a resource to help legal professionals calculate the financial value of personal injury claims. This is what our accident claims calculator uses to estimate your compensation.

The information contained in the Judicial College guidelines is only intended to be advisory. it is not law. expert personal injury solicitors combine information contained in the Judicial College guidelines with their knowledge of case law in order to advise claimants on how much they can expect to receive.

How is personal injury compensation calculated?

The amount awarded to you in personal injury compensation will include general damages that are intended to compensate you for any pain you’ve experienced, loss of amenity and the impact the injury has had on your life. This could include the loss of a career or hobbies.

You may also be awarded special damages, which cover any costs and financial losses you incur due to your injury. This may include accumulated travel and medical expenses, the cost of any necessary adaptations to your property and any extra self-funded care needs such as childcare.

These costs are calculated using a record of your expenses from the time of injury until the case is settled.

Our injury compensation calculator only estimates compensation from general damages and doesn’t account for multiple injuries.
